Product Description
Salix® is a potent diuretic designed for dogs, cats, horses, and cattle to help remove excess fluid from the body. It is commonly used to manage conditions such as congestive heart failure, certain heart diseases, pulmonary edema (fluid in the lungs), kidney diseases, high blood pressure, elevated potassium levels, ascites (fluid in the abdomen), and various types of tissue edema (swelling).
Important Safety Information: Salix® is a strong diuretic, and excessive use can lead to severe diuresis, resulting in electrolyte imbalances, dehydration, and reduced plasma volume. These conditions can increase the risk of circulatory collapse, thrombosis, and embolism. It is essential to monitor your animal closely for signs of fluid loss and electrolyte imbalance, and take appropriate corrective measures. Excessive potassium loss in patients taking digitalis or its glycosides may trigger digitalis toxicity. Use caution when prescribing to animals on potassium-depleting steroids, and ensure potassium deficiency is addressed with dietary supplementation. Exercise care when administering enteric-coated potassium tablets. Always consult your veterinarian and refer to the product label for a full list of contraindications, warnings, and precautions.
