Laxatone for Cats and Kittens
Hairballs are a common issue in cats, especially those with long hair, as they can ingest hair while grooming themselves. The hair can accumulate in the stomach and form hairballs, which may lead to digestive issues or vomiting.
Laxatone is a petroleum-based gel that typically contains ingredients such as white petrolatum, light mineral oil, and malt flavoring. These ingredients help lubricate the digestive tract, making it easier for the cat to pass hair through the gastrointestinal system.
Here's how Laxatone works for hairball prevention and elimination:
Lubrication: The petroleum-based components in Laxatone act as a lubricant. This helps the hair move through the digestive system more smoothly, reducing the likelihood of hairball formation.
Promoting Elimination: By facilitating the passage of hair through the digestive tract, Laxatone helps the cat eliminate hair through normal bowel movements.
Flavoring: Laxatone comes in a palatable tuna or maple flavor that cats find appealing. This can make it easier to administer the product, as cats may willingly lick it off their paws or take it directly from a tube.
It's important to note that while Laxatone can be helpful for many cats, it's always a good idea to consult with a veterinarian before using any over-the-counter product, especially if your cat is experiencing frequent hairballs or other digestive issues. The vet can provide guidance on the appropriate dosage and frequency based on your cat's individual needs and health status.
Administering Laxatone as directed by your veterinarian can be an effective part of a comprehensive strategy to manage hairballs, along with regular grooming to minimize shedding and the ingestion of loose fur.

Works great. Actually loves original maple flavor, which I can't believe, as he's picky. Use a teaspoon daily on the side, with chopped fresh fish & wet food, because he's very old & nothing else works. Been doing this for 1 1/2 years & he's much better.
